About William

William Brown is a Licensed Professional Counselor at DTA. He earned his Master of Arts in Counseling from Sam Houston State University, and has several years of experience working in both private practice and in public mental health agencies. In his spare time, he enjoys travelling, hiking, and spending time with his family and his dog.

William believes in meeting the client where they're at in life, and showing respect for the hard work that they put into their recovery. To this end he utilizes an eclectic therapy style, primarily borrowing from Existential therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, according to the specific needs and comfort of the client. He is also trained to provide specialized trauma focused care using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing techniques.

William’s clinical focuses include anxiety (including social anxiety), depression, identity issues, men’s issues, trauma and PTSD, life transitions, and family of origin issues like enmeshment, attachment, complex trauma, codependency, and abuse. William is an Army veteran, who has experience counseling current and former military personnel as well as first responders. He also has experience helping clients with severe and persistent mental health conditions learn how to cope with their life circumstances.
