About Kira

Kira Damewood (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate under the supervision of Dr. Karla Gomez and Megan Shelton, LPC-S. Kira earned her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Texas Woman’s University. 

Kira’s approach to therapy is a trauma-informed, person-centered framework intertwined with relational cultural theory. She also has training in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). Kira believes clients are the experts of their own lives and she is merely observing from the passenger seat. She is passionate in helping clients understand how their past experiences impact their current lives.

Kira’s areas of clinical interest include childhood trauma, infidelity, divorce, identity development, family conflict, sexual assault, domestic violence, and grief. She also has experience working with teens, adults, and members of the LGBTQ+ community in both private practice and non-profit mental health agencies. 

When Kira is not sharing space with clients, she can be found spending time with her two rescue cats, exploring new coffee shops, or tending to her plant collection.
