Therapeutic Approach

Infused in multiculturalism, Dr. Hishida’s clinical identity is based on a person-centered (Rogerian) orientation, which is a relational approach grounded in non-judgement, authenticity, and genuineness.

Dr. Hishida uses her training in mindfulness meditation, interest in positive psychology, and background in trauma and playfulness to further guide her work.

However, sometimes clients wish for more structured, skills-based support. In this case, Dr. Hishida will co-create a program uniquely for you using her clinical training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (used for interpersonal issues and emotion regulation), and certification in Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Seeking Safety (used for PTSD & substance use).
