About Angela

Angela Ponce is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate supervised by Dr. Katerina Nair and Mark Cagle, LPC-S. She works with clients aging 4 and up. She is experienced with issues relating to trauma processing, childhood sexual, emotional, religious, and physical abuse, concerns relating to attachment and relationship struggles. Angela utilizes psychodynamic therapy, client-centered therapy, and child-centered play therapy in practice.  

Whether a child experiencing unexplainable outbursts, a teenager acting out in concerning ways, or an adult encountering disappointment in their dream job, people can find themselves feeling confused, trapped, or just shy of happiness. The therapeutic environment Angela seeks to provide is a place to put words to and process the confusing spectrum of motivations, needs, and drives, while considering and respecting the client’s unique value system. Focusing on how the client shares their story, Angela’s approach prioritizes listening in to the client’s expression and relationship patterns to illuminate themes at play. Whether processing a traumatic incident or a lifetime of hurt, Angela values that each individual paves their own path to exploring and discovering their story and their place in it.  

Angela graduated from the University of Dallas with a Bachelor of the Arts in Psychology where she continued to obtain a Master of Psychology degree with a Clinical Concentration. During her practicum, Angela worked as a counseling intern for Irving Family Advocacy Center. Her education focused on understanding the theoretical basis of depth psychology as the groundwork for counseling. Her theoretical orientation roots in psychoanalytic, attachment, object-relations, phenomenological and existential approaches to psychology. 

Whether 5, 15 or 50, it is not too early or too late to begin your therapy journey. Angela sees patients virtually and in-person at the Dallas office.
